It is with heavy hearts we report the closure of the Beijing Bookworm, a bookshop and events space at the heart of Beijing’s literary scene since 2005, which is now the latest victim of a cultural clean-up campaign in the capital. As one of the final events, I joined Ian Johnson, Michael Aldrich, and Francesco Sisci for a (very much) tongue-in-Cheek debate on the relative merits of Ming vs. Qing. The recording was made by NPR Beijing correspondent Emily Feng and produced by the team at Sinica/SUP China. Enjoy!
